Web Site Rank and Site Rankings
When your web page is not found on the first page of any search the chances of someone finding it sucks greatly since there will be other competitive sites on the first page. While some people go past the first page of search engine results pages or SERPS, they are mostly geeks you don't care about and it's actually better if they don't even find your web site. The number of people that will find your site listed after the first page is so low that it's really not worth mentioning, so getting good placement on search engines is more important than the web site itself.

There are some other things you can do to improve your web rank or increase web traffic including increasing link popularity, joining lame webrings, giving away e-books, having good content, like articles you can steal from other web sites or classified advertisements where people pay you to sell their stuff.

Link Building
Many people think that the easiest thing to do is building link popularity. They try to do this by writing spam emails and sending them to the email addresses they find on web sites or domain WHOIS records. They look for sites like theirs and ask if they would link to their site. This really pisses off most site owners. If the person that wanted the link would just check first and see if the site has a links page the would have a clue if the site owner was interested or not. What often happens to these newbies is that the site owner reports them to their ISP and they get their account closed. End of problem. If you are going to work on link building or link exchanges, don't be stupid and bother people who you can tell are not going to be interested in helping you get more traffic to your stupid site.

Links From Article Sites
Another way of increasing web traffic is to try writing for e-zines or some free article sites. There are many of these sites which may publish what you write if it does not suck too bad. This is a form of trading. You are providing content that doesn't suck to the site and they publish your article and it has a link back to your site. There is added benefit to this, since as people like you steal articles from sites like this and put them on their sites, you will get links from them to. This is unless they remove or disable the link.

Increase web site traffic
Web traffic can be further increased by submitting the site to search engines and directories, buying different kinds of advertising, using bulk e-mail, having pop-up ads, and buying advertisements on other sites. Rumor has it that web traffic can also be generated by purchasing old fashion advertising that is not on the Internet at all, but things like newspapers magazines radio, billboards, and television.

What is Web Traffic?
Web traffic is the amount of visitors to a web siteand it is a large portion of all Internet traffic. The visitors click a link to your site and as the page and images on the page are loaded, this is all counted and tracked. There are many ways to monitor and report on this traffic and the information can be used to help understand how a site works and if there are any security problems or indicate a potential lack of content.

Good Traffic, Worthless Traffic
There are some companies that offer advertising systems in return for increased web traffic and pay for ad space on the site. Many companies also offer to increase web traffic by submitting to search engines and some even offer search engine optimization. There are also traffic exchanges, banner exchanges, buy visitors sites, and pay to surf programs. None of this crap works well. It may send hundreds of thousands of people to your site, but all they will do is suck up any free stuff you offer (and your bandwidth) and then just leave your site.
